Responsibilities:

• Teaching Biology in accordance with the programme requirements (IB Diploma programme, SL and HL; Pearson Edexcel curriculum), plus related work such as planning units and lessons, marking students’ works, documenting assessment and attendance, etc.)
• Organizing science practicals, supervising students’ research assignments prescribed by the IB DP and in accordance with the IB DP guidelines
• Preparing subjects-related documentation required (such as marked students’ submissions for the internal or external assessment, completing the necessary assessment forms, etc.)
• Participating in collaborative planning and reflection meetings (appr. once per month)
• Supporting school events related to science and research activities

Requirements

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Science (Biology)
• In-depth knowledge of modern biology
• Experience working in science, lab work experience, scientific research experience
• Experience teaching biology at school (preferably within international programmes such as IB and/or IGCSE)
• Ability to work with lab equipment and organize/lead/supervise students’ scientific research
• Understanding of IB DP and Pearson Edexcel biology programme requirements and structure is an advantage
• English native speaker or English language proficiency at C1 level or above
• Openness to professional development, readiness to complete an IB workshop to become a certified IB DP teacher (duration of a month, online)
• An IB certification would be an advantage

Terms of Employment

• Teaching workload of approximately 18 hours per week
• Class size up to 14 students
• Age groups: 11 – 15 years old (Pearson Edexcel) and 16-19 years old (IB DP)
• Official employment contract in accordance with national regulations and school policy
• Advisory assistance with documentation for residence permit
• Hourly rate and compensation details will be discussed during the interview (approx. 20-25 euro per hour)
• Support for professional development and participation in training programmes
• Transportation to and from campus provided by the school
