Preparation for the IB DP Programme

The PreDP course is integrated into the ninth-grade curriculum, is mandatory, and is included in the tuition fees.

A student who does not study at Adriatic College can enrol in the course according to the ninth-grade schedule, selecting and paying only for the modules (subjects) that are most relevant to them.

This module is designed to develop and deepen the skills of academic reading and writing, which are critically important for successful admission and study in the IB DP programme. Students will learn to analyse complex texts and construct well-argued, well-structured academic works. Special attention is given to critical thinking, extracting key ideas from texts, and adequately using academic vocabulary to articulate their thoughts. This module will help students successfully cope with the academic workload in IB DP, including essay writing, research papers, and completing complex assignments across all subjects.

The "PreDP Math" module in the IB DP program's preparatory course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for successfully studying mathematics and related subjects in the IB DP programme. During the module, students will strengthen their fundamental knowledge, familiarise themselves with the principles of mathematical research, and improve their language skills for dealing with mathematical terms in English.

The module's foundation is the reinforcement and revision of middle school material so students can confidently work with basic mathematical concepts. This approach helps to fill gaps in knowledge and prepares students for successful completion of mathematics entrance tests.

An introduction to mathematical research is a vital part of the module. It prepares students for the independent work required in IB DP. Students are also introduced to planning and conducting research methods, which develops their analytical abilities.

Significant attention is paid to mastering mathematical terminology in English, providing the necessary language preparation for participation in the international academic context. This includes developing skills in understanding and using specialised terms in the educational process.
