Adriatic College Secondary School
Adriatic College Secondary School Educational Programmes
National Curriculum
Students study a wide range of disciplines, from natural to humanities sciences, in Russian, in accordance with the curriculum approved by the Montenegrin Ministry of Education. We pay special attention to updating and adapting curricula to provide our students with a modern, high-quality education.
British curriculum
The Pearson Edexcel education programme includes two main age categories and offers education in English, making it ideal for preparing students for the international academic and professional arena. For students aged 11 to 14, our school implements the Pearson Lower Secondary Programme, focusing on core subjects and developing critical thinking. This stage serves as preparation for a deeper understanding of chosen disciplines. The Pearson Upper Secondary Programme is designed for students aged 14 to 16 and prepares them for International GCSE exams. After completing this programme, students can continue their education at Adriatic College in the IB Diploma Programme, ensuring further academic development and preparation for higher education.
Language Studies
At Adriatic College Secondary School, the study of the Montenegrin language continues. The language of the country of residence, culture, and traditions play an essential role in the curriculum. In Grade 9, students must pass exams in Montenegrin language and mathematics in Montenegrin. Preparation for these exams is included in the Adriatic College programme.
Special attention is given to the study of English. In the national programme, English is taught in an advanced format. Students are divided by language proficiency levels, allowing us to develop each student's abilities according to their capabilities, pace, and interests.
Preparation for IB DP
A distinctive feature of Adriatic College Secondary School is preparing students for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in the PreDP course, included in the Grade 9 curriculum. As part of the course, students study English and mathematics, which are necessary for admission to the IB DP programme.
Extracurricular Activities
Extracurricular activities are an integral part of Adriatic College's education. We organise many events for children, such as the New Year's Theatre Festival, Spring Ball, Student's Day, etc. We also participate in city carnivals and sports tournaments. Active extracurricular involvement fosters the strengthening of social and teamwork skills and the development of leadership qualities and organisational abilities.
Parental Involvement
At Adriatic College, we highly value cooperation and parental involvement in the educational process. The school is interested in close partnership with parents. We listen to parental initiatives to improve the educational process and school environment, which parents can propose to the administration through the Parent Committee. Parents are also actively involved in school events and festivals, and a cohesive community of like-minded parents provides additional support to our students and educators.
In Adriatic College Secondary School, students begin to study complex subjects such as physics, chemistry, biology, and social studies. Our educators help students understand the complex relationships between various natural phenomena and society and introduce them to scientific achievements, allowing children to better understand the world around them and adapt more easily. This stage of education is a crucial transitional moment that prepares students for more severe academic challenges and develops critical thinking.
