The Story of Adriatic College
The Opening of the School and Initial Triumphs
Adriatic College, a private school, was established in 2014. It was situated on the ground floor of a residential building and had no more than 50 students, but the ambitious dream of the founders was to make the school international and transform Adriatic College into a significant educational cluster. In the founding year, a critically important decision was made about the necessity of obtaining accreditation from the Montenegrin Ministry of Education. The laborious process of preparing, filing, and reviewing the necessary documents concluded successfully.
Today, Adriatic College remains one of the few private schools that have managed to prove their compliance with standards and receive official accreditation from the country's Ministry of Education.
Top Specialists, New Programmes
The effort to improve the quality of education is ongoing. Highly qualified teachers and methodologists from various countries are invited to the school. In 2018, preparations began for obtaining accreditation for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP). It took three years to receive accreditation. During this time, Adriatic College developed its own programmes, recruited teachers with experience in international schools, and implemented international teaching standards. Today, graduates of the Adriatic College IB DP programme are preparing to enter prestigious universities around the world, receiving scholarships for their studies.
Remembering What’s Important
A modern school needs a good library with books in different languages. The school purchased its first books in Serbia, which were transported in the personal suitcases of dedicated staff members. Later, books were purchased online, and their quantity and variety increased significantly. Popular science, fiction, contemporary authors' works, and classic literature - all these can now be found on the shelves of our large and cosy library.
Overcoming Circumstances
Adriatic College continues to develop, drawing on the best global practices. The 2021 pandemic allowed the school to successfully adopt online learning, managing to maintain and even increase the number of students. In the same year, Adriatic College received accreditation for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) and announced its first enrolment.
New Heights
Between 2022 and 2023, Montenegro became a new home for migrants from several countries. Adriatic College moved to a new modern building and welcomed over 200 new students. Thanks to the accumulated experience and the professionalism of the team, it became possible not only to increase the number of students but also to expand the range of accredited international programmes. The school's hallmark now is a vibrant team of specialists from different countries and the incredible beauty of the Adriatic Sea visible from the windows of the new building.
Several Educational Paths
Adriatic College offers two educational paths: National and International. The National path is based on the Montenegrin-Russian programme. The International path includes the IPC, Pearson Edexcel, and IB DP programmes. All programmes are accredited. Students can choose their educational trajectory depending on their family's life plans and their interests.
Continuing to Develop
In 2024, Adriatic College has more than 400 students - and this is not the limit. The school continues to develop programmes, refine and supplement curricula, and seek and hire the best teachers. Adriatic College is the largest private school in Montenegro, which year after year confirms its leadership position, strengthening its stance in the educational system of Montenegro and the Balkan region.
