Adriatic College Policies: The Foundation for a Strong School and Quality Education

A strong and successful school begins with clearly defined and consistently applied policies. Policies serve as formal rules and the foundation for building quality relationships between students, teachers, parents, and the school administration. Our policies create a thoughtful system for maintaining a safe, motivating, and fair learning environment, ensuring clarity of expectations and predictability necessary for the success of every student.

We value transparency and consistency in the application of our policies. This creates an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect, making every school community member valuable.

Adriatic College School Policies

  • Admissions Policy

     Active

The Admissions and Enrolment Policy at Adriatic College sets the goals, principles, and procedures for entry across all programmes—national and international. It outlines the steps: getting to know the school, submitting a formal application, entrance assessments, the admission decision, and completing paperwork; the roles of coordinators; and the entry criteria and required documents. The policy is aligned with the Language, Inclusion, Academic Honesty, and Assessment policies.

The appendices detail rules for specific programmes and ages—IPC (6–11), Pearson Edexcel (11–16), IB Diploma Programme (16–19), and the integrated national programme (Grades 1–9)—including formats and minimum thresholds for entrance tests (Mathematics, English, interview/psychologist), possible remote options, waiting lists, and trial periods. Support for inclusive education and language of instruction is provided where needed.

  • Assessment Policy

     Active

The document sets out the foundations, principles and procedures of assessment at the school: roles and expectations of participants, types of assessment, criteria and tools, task types and weights, rules for resubmission and reporting.

It includes sections on practice in the IB DP and the national track, the procedure for development and review of the policy, as well as appendices with grade conversion scales and internal calendars.

  • Academic Integrity Policy

    Active

The policy sets out the school’s approach to academic integrity: what constitutes good practice, which actions are unacceptable, what is expected from community members, and the measures the school takes to support honest work.

The document is based on the school’s mission and values and the IB Learner Profile and is reviewed regularly.

  • School Behavior Policy

    Active

The Behaviour Policy of Adriatic College defines the general principles of interaction within the school community and sets the rules that are mandatory for all: students, staff, and visitors. The aim of the policy is to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for learning and communication.

  • Inclusion Policy

    Active

The Inclusion Policy at Adriatic College sets principles and practices to support learning for all students, including those with special educational needs: removing barriers, aligning with the IB mission and values, and recognising neurodiversity. The document outlines the school’s “inclusive profile” and support measures (in class, beyond class, environment and safety, work with families, staff development), defines roles and responsibilities, and sets procedures for monitoring effectiveness and regular updates. It is aligned with the Language, Admissions, Academic Honesty, Assessment, and Homework policies.

  • Homework Policy

    Active

The document defines the principles of homework at Adriatic College: when and for what purpose it is assigned, which types of tasks are appropriate, and how differentiation or an optional format may be used. It sets guidance on workload and deadlines, rules for posting and feedback, and links the assessment of homework to the Assessment Policy and other school documents.

  • Language Policy

    Active

The Language Policy at Adriatic College sets the rules for a multilingual environment: which languages are used for teaching and communication, how students’ home languages are supported, and which additional languages are studied. It defines the school’s roles and responsibilities, requirements for accessible materials and language support, and the procedures for implementation, monitoring, and regular review.

  • Parents/Legal Guardians and Students Complaints and Appeals Procedures

    Active

The Complaints and Appeals Policy at Adriatic College provides clear channels and predictable steps for any concern—from a request for clarification to an appeal of assessment outcomes. A concern may be raised informally or formally (via the school’s official email); applicants are guaranteed a transparent process, confidentiality where needed, and no adverse consequences for raising a concern.

Submissions are accepted from students, parents/legal guardians, and staff. Where a matter relates to external decisions (IB, Pearson, or national authorities), the school supports the external procedure through the relevant programme coordinator and explains in advance any potential risks, timelines, and costs.

  • First Aid Policy

    Editing

At Adriatic College, the First Aid Policy is designed to ensure readiness and effective response to any accidents or medical emergencies at or on its premises. This policy aims to safeguard the health and safety of students, staff, and all visitors to our educational establishment.

The policy establishes clear procedures and identifies responsible individuals for providing first aid, including access to necessary equipment and medical supplies. It also outlines the process for documenting incidents, ensuring a thorough record of all first-aid cases and subsequent actions.
