In Montenegro, the name of Petar II Petrović Njegoš is linked both to statehood and to culture. A nineteenth-century ruler, state reformer and spiritual leader of the country, he left a body of literature that has become part of the national identity and a way of speaking about the relationship between a person and their homeland.

At Adriatic College, the day was marked with a small concert. Pupils prepared scenes dedicated to Njegoš’s life and went on stage as historical figures who were alongside him in different periods. In the recitation contest, his poetic works were read: each participant chose a text they wanted to bring to the audience and worked on delivery and intonation.

The awards were presented separately for three age groups.
